Breastfeeding baby

Apparently, that is what I have. A breastfeeding baby. At least according to the lactation consultant. She said he was breastfeeding like a pro. When she first was checking him out, she said he had a bit of a tongue tie, so it might make it harder, but once she tried to latch him on, he was off and running. So now I just have to figure out how to get him to latch on like she did. She did have some good advice, so hopefully it will be easier.

The even better news is that it appears that my body is producing at least some breast milk. She kept weighing him during our visit and he gained more weight than he was taking in from formula. I was super excited to hear that. At least my body can do something right! Now we just have to figure out the latching issue so he won't make my nipples so sore.

  1. Woohooo!!!!!!! Go mama!! and don't be afraid to go back to see the LC agin (and again and again) if you need to. With the kid, I saw 1 a couple of times and it was so helpful!

  2. That's so great to hear! I remember the early days and trying to get a good latch. It was so hard at first. No one tells you that breastfeeding is a skill you have to learn just like anything else.

When I was seeing a lactation consultant when my DD was born, we also had the weigh ins. We did one pre feed and one post feed.

That's great that she's taking in so much when breastfeeding!

  3. Yay!! I'm so glad to hear this!

I second the suggestion to go back to the LC as often as you need to. They do help quite a bit, and they can be objective when you're frustrated.

  4. Woohoo! I will definitely "third" the suggestion to keep seeing the LC if you need more assistance - a good LC is indispensable!

Yay for you and Seven - so so so happy that it's working out!
