Back from vacation

We are back from our family vacation. Tahoe was fantastic and very relaxing (well, I did have to do a little work, but it didn't really impede the relaxing). Hubby did lose his luggage which was stressful and it's still not found. But I think it actually worked out b/c he had to borrow clothes from my relatives and had an easy excuse for not going into the hot tub.

I spent the week forgetting about TTC. I enjoyed some good wine and went horseback riding. I left my BBT at home and slept in. I almost made it through the whole week without talking about it (I still thought about it, of course, at times). But then my mom insisted on talking about it on my last day there and I had to talk to my aunt who also had IF difficulties (more about that tomorrow).

Now I'm busy catching up on work and blogs. So much has happened while I was gone. I'm just happy this week is cut short due to July 4th.

Rash

Well, summer is here, which means it is time for me to get sick.

See, I've lived in this state for almost 3 years. The summer we moved here, I got poison sumac the first week (reaction is like poison ivy, but a slightly different plant).

A few weeks later, I was bitten by a brown recluse spider. This was incredibly painful, not only at the bite site, but affected my whole body. I itched all over, generally felt sick, and the bite hurt so much it was hard to sit down (I was bit on my rear end). A brown recluse spider bite decays the flesh, so I was put on the same medication used to treat leprosy. I was not completely healed for a couple months. This happened the week I started my new job and before my health insurance forms were completed.

Last summer, I had viral meningitis. Raging headache that lasted over a week, nausea, and a stiff neck. Fortunately I did not have bacterial meningitis, which is the real dangerous kind. Unfortunately, there is no real medication; they only treat the symptoms. This happened right before we spent a week at my mom's house and we still took our vacation. Although our activities were limited since I didn't want to leave the couch. My mom actually liked taking care of me, but I did have to put up with her saying repeatedly I could be confusing the nausea of meningitis with morning sickness.

Now, I was bitten by something over the weekend and have another rash. It does not appear to be a brown recluse spider as the rash is different, not painful other than itchy, and there are no whole body symptoms. But I was thinking of going to the dr tomorrow if it doesn't go away and looked up pictures of similar rashes. The closest I could find is a tick bite. Great, lyme disease. Just what I need. And we leave for vacation on Friday. Although the most outdoor thing I did for the past several days is weed our front lawn. I guess I could have a gotten a tick bite, but it's not exactly out in the woods.

The good news about my gardening: We have flowers blooming. This was first attempt at planting flowers and it seems to have been a success!

HSG

I had an HSG today. I knew going in that you get bad cramps with one, but don't believe anyone who says it's just like menstrual cramps. Do any of you get cramps that bad every month? I couldn't make it through the day if I had that every month all day long. Luckily the real pain only lasted a few minutes. I did feel a little light-headed after it was over, but improved quickly and even made it to my yoga class after work.

Unfortunately the results were not that great. My right tube was normal, but the left one didn't show up at all. The RE was not that concerned because it only takes one tube for fertility. And she wasn't sure if the left tube was blocked or just had a spasm and so didn't show up. But still I left wishing for a better test.
