More randomness

My second acupuncture appointment is done. Today he tried something different and had me lay on my stomach while he put needles in my back. Still very relaxing.

I have two daffodils blooming in my yard! Last fall was my first attempt at planting flowers for spring color. I'm so proud. They look great. The only problem is that I can't figure out why only the bulbs I planted on the right side of the house are sprouting, none on the left side. It's a puzzle to me. I haven't seen any budding on my blueberry bush, so I hope that survived it's first winter in my yard. It was a very cold winter.

Speaking of cold winters, our heating bills have actually gone down due to insulation we put in last fall. Our February bill went down 17%, even though the number of days between readings was 10% higher and the temperature was colder this year. So our investment was well worth it.

Marathon training has not been going so well. My left hip muscle is hurting me. Ugh.

  1. I started acupuncture this week, too. I'm not sure I got anything much out of the first treatment, but I'm hoping it gets better with each one. Heck, even if it just helps relax me, it's all good, right?

I did a few half-marathons and one full marathon and I can totally relate to hip pain (& foot pain & knee pain & ...). For me it was my IT band, and regular massage really helped. I would get them every 2 weeks after my long mileage day. It was a painful deep tissue sports massage, but it helped enough that I could finish my race. Just an idea for ya.

  2. Sorry about the hip pain - mention it to your acupuncturist and I'm sure he can help.

  3. mmmm... I love acupuncture. Except when doing IVF or IUI with injectibles. I always get to a point where I just can't take any more needles!

re: bulbs... if they are blooming on the south side of the house and not the north it probably has to do with the amount of sun and soil temperature. It might be they are just running late. If they don't thrive over there you can move them. I notice different microclimates on different sides of my house.
